Going against the current

At EnergyVision, opportunistic projects, one-offs and one-hit wonder are not for us. What we are about is growing our decentralised energy network step by step, as well as building long-term relationships with our customers. This is something we take very seriously, as our customers are our greatest asset. When the pandemic hit in 2020, we gave our customers free energy. When the energy crisis hit in 2022, we froze our prices.

We operate in a context of energy suppliers and solar panel installers. While 2022 saw both areas of the business post record turnover and profit in 2022, 2023 provided a lot of setbacks. It was a year of setbacks, with fewer installations and a sharp fall in energy prices. In the Netherlands, dozens of installers even went out of business.

What did this mean for EnergyVision? We literally went against the current. In 2022, we experienced strong growth, doubling our EBITDA. Rather than one-off price hikes, this was based on sustainable structural growth – more customers, more projects, more kWh.

In 2023, EnergyVision experienced further growth. Crucially, however, we also laid the foundations for a strong 2024 with a broad pipeline, various new business models and projects, but above all laying big plans for the future. Behind the scenes, 2023 also saw us bracing ourselves for EnergyVision's 10-year milestone – with 2024 set to be an unforgettable year, no doubt!

In this report, we take a look back at 2023. While it was our ninth consecutive year of growth, for us it was predominantly a year of change, of transition towards the next decade.

We are looking to the future and that future starts now.
